    change his diet
    or go to the vet
they have dentist things there. or at least at my vet they do.

but either way go to the vet
he could have a serious problem. like a disease.

Bad breath in any animal can mean dental problems.

Please take your cat to the vet as soon as possible, it can also mean a bad mouth infection.

you can but these treat breath mints for cats. But i would see a vet because it could be dental problems.

    Hiya!

From the way you are describing his offending breath, it is most likely that he is suffering from feline halitosis (bad breath).

Besides his bad breath, does he also have the any of the following symptoms?

    Oral discharge
    Oral pain
    Bloody oral discharge
    Drooling
    Dysphagia (difficulty swallowing)
    Difficulty eating
Depression (Lethargic, hiding, staring at the wall, any abnormal behavior)

If yes, you need to bring him to the vet for a thorough medical check up because he could be suffering from other illness where bad breath is one of the symptom.

Otherwise, you can help alleviate his bad breath by regular brushing, Tooth brushes/finger brushes and special toothpastes are available from any stores.

There are also cat treats that are specially formulated to freshen breath and help keep foul smell at bay.

Also, make sure you are feeding good quality food – one that has real muscle meat as the first ingredient (chicken, beef, lamb, venison, turkey) and not animal and meat by products. You should also stay away from food that has a tonnes of cheap fillers such as corn, wheat, gluten meal, rice, etc.

Go here for more info on feeding the correct diet to your cat:-

Also, try not to use your bare hands when playing with your cat. This will only encourage him to bite it even when you are just petting her. Always use toys to interact with your cat and when she does bite, tell him NO and walk away.

get him a dental cleaning at the vet.

Bad breath can come from bad teeth. Schedule a checkup for him and have the vet check his mouth.

You can ask for something called C.E.T. which is like a mouthwash to kill bacteria in a cat or dog’s mouth. A cat gets one eyedropper squirt into the mouth every day, and it helps a LOT. They should have it put in the mouth so it stays there not swallowed right away. This is easier done with dogs, but it works with cats.

Bad breath is generally a sign of bad teeth. And just like in humans, bad teeth can lead to periodontal disease, and then to heart problems and kidney problems. He really needs to have his teeth checked by a vet, and quite probably a dental cleaning. By the time the teeth are bad enough to affect the breath, it’s too late for dental treats.

You need to take him to the vet. Halitosis (bad breath) can be an indication of a more serious medical problem. A good teeth-cleaning will probably help too after you get him checked out.
