How do you tell a co-worker she has bad breath?
Posted by admin under Psychology
Lola asked:
I have a co-worker who has bad breath. People avoid getting close to her because of it. I don’t think she knows it. I have thought of sending her an anonymous email but I was worried that she might suspect the wrong person. It would be good for her and for the work environment if she got treated for it, but how can it be mentioned to her without hurting her feelings? She is a sensitive person.

offer her a gum, or tic-tac, or breathmint kindly, as in general ” would you like one?”
if she refuses, say c’mon, its from me please take it
still refuses, be like ” if you take it ill do so and so, or something a favor.”
still no, say ill stuff it in your mouth!” you have to try it its a new flavor! i want your opinion!

You gotta compliment like five things about her before you give her the bad news. Tell her how you appreciate her and how she always works hard, and how everyone likes her (if it’s true), and that she dresses well, and that she has really helped so-and-so out a lot with such-and-such. But that as a friend, you have noticed that she sometimes doesn’t get to work well with people because of her breath.

I would recommend dropping her a nice anonymous email. You can use a website like to do this, and try and word it so that she doesn’t assume the wrong person sent it.
Just sign it as like, Your Concerned Friend or something, and hopefully she won’t take it the wrong way
Someone has to tell her.
